‘350 x 1018’ – Hanna de Haan en Rik Buter. Curator: Linda Seine
Speciaal voor de gelegenheid wordt de lange muur van Studio Seine, welke maar liefst 350 x 1018 cm. meet, van boven tot beneden bekleed met grote vellen papier. Hanna de Haan en Rik Buter starten weken voorafgaand aan het openingsevent met hun gezamenlijke missie; het maken van een gigantisch houtskoolpanorama. Zonder vooropgezet plan en in volledige vrijheid creëert het duo een unieke tekening waarvoor de lange muur van Studio Seine het canvas vormt. Tijdens het organische werkproces is ruimte voor spontaniteit en toeval en is het toegestaan op elkaars werk te reageren. In volledige stilte wordt dagenlang gewerkt; Elementen toevoegen, wegvegen, ergens overheen krassen. Het eindwerk ligt niet vast.
Tijdens ACR XL wordt zichtbaar hoe ver de kunstenaars zijn gevorderd in hun proces. Op welke manier verhoudt het site specifieke werk zich tot de omringende ruimte?
Het resultaat van de happening is onderdeel van de duotentoonstelling 350 x 1018. Naast het environmental werk omvat de tentoonstelling een selectie van grafiek en tekenkunst van beide kunstenaars.
Especially for the occasion, the long wall of Studio Seine, which measures no less than 350 x 1018 cm. will get a wallpaper from top to bottom with large sheets of paper. Weeks before the opening event Hanna de Haan and Rik Buter will start their joint mission; to create a giant charcoal panorama. Without a preconceived plan and in complete freedom, the duo creates a unique drawing for which the long wall of Studio Seine forms the canvas. During the organic work process there is room for spontaneity and coincidence and it is allowed to react to each other's work. They'll work for days in complete silence; Adding elements, wiping away components, scratching over something. The final work is not fixed.
During ACR XL it becomes clear how far the artists have progressed in their process. How does the site-specific work relate to the surrounding space?
The result of the happening is part of the duo exhibition 350 x 1018. In addition to the environmental work, the exhibition includes a selection of graphics and drawing by both artists.
